Winder-Barrow Community Theatre President Tery Overbey recently presented a check to Susan Schuenemann, Executive Director of the Piedmont Rape Crisis Center. This check represented part of the proceeds from the WBCT presentation of "Arsenic and Old Lace" which was the last play of the 2015 Main Stage Season.
The Piedmont Rape Crisis Center is a non-profit adult advocacy agency which serves Banks, Barrow and Jackson Counties. Their services are provided free to primary and secondary adult victims of all forms of sexual violence. This agency started in 2001 as a result of the aftermath of a serial rapist. At that time, there were no services for adult victims. The mission of the Piedmont Rape Crisis Center is to end sexual assault by empowering sexual assault victims into survivors through advocacy, support, community awareness, and education. Some of the services provided are forensic exam accompaniments, legal advocacy, counseling, and education.
